How do you convert from ext2 to reiserFS

How can you do this? I have Linux Mandrake 9 and not being familiar with REiserfs I formatted it ext2. I want to give REiser FS a try so I can avoid the fscks but I have already deeply configured my system that I do not wish to redo it. I want to preserve all data and functionality and yet move to reiserfs.

As far as I'm aware there's no direct way to do it other than backing up all your stuff, deleting the ext2 partition and replacing it with a ReiserFS partition, then restoring the files from backup.

Note however that the transition from ext2 -> ext3 is relatively painless as they are backwards compatible and ext3 also has a rather good journalling implementation, meaning that fscks are very fast. Although ReiserFS 3 is good, you wouldn't notice any difference between it and ext3 for now. The good stuff comes with Reiser4.

thanks -mike
