I'm new, so this may be a dumb question, but why not include a light simple version of Slackware for beginners. Have it just have a limited number of programs that a high school or college student would use. Have it automate change to generic kernel. Call it Slackware on training wheels.
I've tried Salix and absolute linux. They're all good, but they are highly modified from slackware, they don't use slackpkg and slackbuids, even done manually don't always work.
Sometimes you just have to get work done and you don't have the time to do a ton of reading.
Lightly modified Slackware. But it's 100% Slackware.
I know a lot of people who want to use Slackware but are very time limited. This light distro would ease them into Slackware.
Just a thought.
