Please run
Code:
dmesg -w
then plug in your USB device. Post back with the output.

FWIW, this will also show drivers loaded against any particular USB device...
Code:
usb-devices

What is your goal. Two radio devices in such proximity will interfere with each other even if they are not on the same frequency. But it is going to be a murder if they are. You won't see it of course, but the level of transmitter signal depends on many parameters and if there is another device close then it will inevitably have negative impact. You will see slow connection, lots of lost packets which will have to be resent, etc. There are reasons why wireless will never be full substitute for wired, radiowaves have too many disadvantages.

Okay, let's start from the beginning because now the internal wifi isn't working.

RPi3
-current (D/L'd last night)

RT5370 UN-PLUGGED (so only the built-in BCM wifi):

Code:
lsmod
brcmfmac 335872 0
brcmutil 24576 1 brcmfmac
cfg80211 782336 1 brcmfmac
rfkill 32768 1 cfg80211
Code:
dmesg | grep brcm
...noise...
[ 7.969258] ieee80211 phy0: brcmf_fw_crashed: Firmware has halted or crashed
...noise...
Interesting.

This looks less like a "where are modules loaded from" question and more like a "What's broken in SlackwareARM" question... I'm going to move this discussion over to the Slarm forum.

If I get a fix, I'll post here also.
