At this point I am astonished about this thread. The Slackware fanboys here are telling everyone to vote for Mr.Volkerding, while at the same time blaming Mr Poettering (or Red Hat) for cheating on the vote. Then they claim that systemd is crapware and only used by uninformed idiot masses, and so on, which is pretty amazing when one considers that almost all distributions use systemd, and my guess is that most distribution developers are not from the "uninformed idiot masses" kind. The hipster accuse is pretty ironic, I would think, when you think about the "I used it before it was cool" attitude, that is so defining for hipsters.
Though the most amazing thing for me in this thread is that the same people that go ahead and call Mr. Poettering a moron and the users of his software uninformed idiots have the gall to claim that he is the one with nasty character. A little bit of self-reflection would be good for some of the posters in this thread, the irony and hypocrisy hear is pretty amazing.

There is not a single post in this thread where anybody tells other people who to vote for. Perhaps you should take your own advice and engage in some self-reflection of your own.

Or maybe we should ask who "you" voted for, Tobi?

Edit:

Just checked and Mr. Patrick is now only 9 votes away from the 1st seat.

Whether at this point Patrick gets #1 or #2, I think it's safe to say the masses have spoken, and we all should find a way to celebrate, pending you're old enough to do so, with an ice cold pint of brew to salute both Richard and Patrick equally.

One more good reason to vote for him.

Isn't it obvious? Just another Poettering lover, I guess. I could recommend him to read what exactly systemd is, and how it violates Unix philosophy by design. I could also point him to a vast amount of proofs concerning how mr. Poettering is basically a trolling butthole with a huge pathetic ego. It is, however, futile, because apparently he can't wait for the next LinWindow$ "Poettering edition".

I could not agree more... Cheers for both of them!

While I do not agree with some of what Tobi wrote above, your description of Tobi cannot be farther from the truth.

Please refrain from personal attacks, especially if you do not really know the person and your post really misrepresents that person.

Tobi is a level headed person that has spent many hours looking at things from many points of view. I speak for my self Slackware is a tool out of all my tools I always seem to use the one that works the best for me. Slackware. That's why Pat is on top. Could be the green tea.

I'm not okay with any slacker calling either LP or Tobi names in a thread where we're cheering for our beloved Pat and Eric. Cuss the idea, not the person.
I don't know LP, but Tobi is a rational LQ member and he raised a valid point up there.

Regards.

It does not list results until you pick... 1,464 +1, not that SLS isn't grate but what's contributed most the operating system, the kernel or both?

It appears to me that the only person interjecting fanboyism et al curiously enough is a moderator. Now, that I find strange. If people in a Slackware forum, in a thread about a particular poll that the Slackware founder and developer is included in, choose to chat and post about said poll, and choose to state that they would like to see a particular person win....How on earth is that fanboyism?

Remind people to stay on track in a thread, perhaps, remind people of the rules of the forum--fine, but to interject your opinion as a way to influence the discussion and to scold the people involved in this thread, excuse me but that has a definite odor of hypocrisy.

Of course, that is why I stated in my very first post in this thread that I voted for Gabe Newell. But to actually read this thread may be too much, I know.[quote] I could recommend him to read what exactly systemd is[/qtuote]So you just assume that I am uninformed about systemd?

Ah, I get it, another one of those that think that the UNIX philosophy is the only valid way to design programs. Now, throw out your X server, your office suite and , if you happen to use one, your desktop environment, since they are very likely to violate that paradigm also. But that would be inconvenient, wouldn't it?

If you think that insults somehow improve your arguments: You are wrong.

You may want to check on the title of this very thread.
