That's a list with a lot of FOSS luminaries, I voted for KH.

Lennart Poettering and Sarah Sharp with most votes? Is that site some kind of joke?

Both spent a lot of time in the news whether you like them or not.

So the criteria to get a vote is to have a "lot of time" in news? Now I understand how Donald Trump will be a president.

Likely redhat astroturfing.

It's person of the year, the FOSS media are going to influence that whether you, me, or anyone likes that. You don't have to like Sharp or agree with her take on things or her actions but they were publicized and many do agree. You don't have to like Poettering fo whatever reason but as long as the drama over systemd persists he's going to be on that list and he deserves to be on that list.

They also lead the "most disruptive person" category.

Perhaps, people who eager to bring "drama" to the Linux development shouldn't be named as a representative of the community.

I prefer quality to quantity. A lot of people are in the news everyday for no particular merit. Regarding Poettering, I guess that's what they call "breaking news"...

The same applies to both ends of that spectrum. It's not the worst thing to ever happen and Lennart shouldn't speak if he can't take criticism.

It's not about the quality to you SW it's about the person of the year.

Hi,

I see nothing wrong with a open vote. I voted for PV! Listing is a list of recommendations.

Look at the father of Linux who has;
Quote:

Linus Torvalds (Linux kernel, git) (11%, 275 Votes)
PV has;
Quote:

Patrick Volkerding (Slackware Founder and Leader) (4%, 94 Votes)
Not to bad for the Oldest Gnu/Linux maintainer.

Go Slackware!

Hope this helps.
Have fun & enjoy!
