Question VMware install slackware?


i am planning on installing a gz file containing vmware into my slackware 10.2 system.

ok so i guess this is installed just like any other program. what i want to know is do i have to install windows into vmware? or can i just run any windows program now - like with wine?

As vmware is commercial software I suspect your.gz file is just that a g-zipped file which will have to be installed using the instructions inside the file.

Once installed you will have to install windows into vmware, full instructions should be supplied with your .gz file.

You will need to add the rc structure of system V in the rc.d.

Remember to keep enable the rc.sysvinit that comes with the slack distro.

That is all you will need, well that and the kernel-headres. I have it running at home and at the office and works llike a charm..

An no, it doesn't run programs like wine. Think of it as a "PC Simulator". A PC inside of a PC. In which case you install windows onto it, just like you would any other computer for the most part, and you treat it just like it was another computer for the most part.
