Angry VMware on Slackware


I can't build the vmnet module for the slack 9 !!!
It complains about a missing sock.h (that file
does not exist on my computer)

If anybody knows a posible solution...

POST IT!

cna you find it on the cd or in the files extracted from the tarball?

do you have your kernel headers installed on your machine?

i had this problem on my mandrake box i ended up reinstalling my kernel ( a good linux tutoral for me! )

Install the kernel source and do a make menuconfig (or whatever way you like to do it). Ensure that there is a symbolic link /usr/local/linux, pointing to the sourcetree that you're working in. The kernel headers package should also have been installed. Now do a "make dep && make clean". At this point you would normally make the kernel and modules, but you what you want is to compile the vmware kernel modules, which is why you have to generate the kernel dependencies first.
