Undo make install

I have done a make install but unfortunately the directory was incorrect. Is there a way to remove the installed files?

Try "make uninstall".

If that doesn't work (not all applications provide the uninstall target), you could use something like checkinstall to create a package. Then, install and remove the package to get rid of the installed files.

Hi,

What version of Slackware are you speaking about? If you are using Slackware 12 then no 'checkinstall' is available as per the README.

If you read the checkinstall site workaround then you possibly could use checkinstall.

You can also read Felipe Sanchez suggestions for checkinstall.

PV does recommend the Slacktrack utility but be forewarned that you must touch the files to use it.

Hi,

If you didn't use the 'Slacktrack' or something similar and uninstall isn't supported then you always remove by hand.

Uninstall is not supported. Do you know if there's a log file of the copied files? So I can remove them?

I think I have removed all files. I have used checkinstall with the command line flag "--fstrans=no". Installed the created tgz package and removed the package.

Thanks for the support.
