Unable to mount USB drive in 12.2

I have narrowed this down to a slackware issue and not hardware because I can read the drive under another OS on the same hardware. I have a 120G laptop drive in a USB enclosure which works fine on my old laptop. I copied my home folder from my old laptop to it and then plugged into the new one and get this:
Code:
sd 4:0:0:0: [sdb] Sense Key : 0x0 [current]
sd 4:0:0:0: [sdb] ASC=0x0 ASCQ=0x0
sd 4:0:0:0: [sdb] Sense Key : 0x0 [current]
sd 4:0:0:0: [sdb] ASC=0x0 ASCQ=0x0
sd 4:0:0:0: [sdb] Sense Key : 0x0 [current]
sd 4:0:0:0: [sdb] ASC=0x0 ASCQ=0x0
sd 4:0:0:0: [sdb] Sense Key : 0x0 [current]
sd 4:0:0:0: [sdb] ASC=0x0 ASCQ=0x0
sd 4:0:0:0: [sdb] Sense Key : 0x0 [current]
sd 4:0:0:0: [sdb] ASC=0x0 ASCQ=0x0
and it just keeps repeating. I can plug the drive back in the old laptop and it works fine.
Am I missing something in 12.2? The old laptop is 12.0 and I was able to see it and mount it fine.

Make sure your user is in the "plugdev" group.

I have similar device. After plugging it displays information:

Code:
usb 1-5: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 3
usb 1-5: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
usb 1-5: New USB device found, idVendor=3538, idProduct=0042
usb 1-5: New USB device strings: Mfr=0, Product=2, SerialNumber=3
usb 1-5: Product: USB Mass Storage Device
usb 1-5: SerialNumber: 000000000003D4
Initializing USB Mass Storage driver...
scsi4 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices

USB Mass Storage support registered.
scsi 4:0:0:0: Direct-Access Generic USB Flash Disk 0.00 PQ: 0 ANSI: 2
sd 4:0:0:0: [sdb] 4096000 512-byte hardware sectors (2097 MB)
sd 4:0:0:0: [sdb] Write Protect is off
sd 4:0:0:0: ioctl_internal_command return code = 8000002
   : Sense Key : 0x0 [current]
   : ASC=0x0 ASCQ=0x0

 sdb: sdb1
sd 4:0:0:0: [sdb] Attached SCSI removable disk
sd 4:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg1 type 0
Then it starts to display endlessly:

Code:
sd 4:0:0:0: ioctl_internal_command return code = 8000002
   : Sense Key : 0x0 [current]
   : ASC=0x0 ASCQ=0x0
sd 4:0:0:0: ioctl_internal_command return code = 8000002
   : Sense Key : 0x0 [current]
   : ASC=0x0 ASCQ=0x0
sd 4:0:0:0: ioctl_internal_command return code = 8000002
   : Sense Key : 0x0 [current]
   : ASC=0x0 ASCQ=0x0
sd 4:0:0:0: ioctl_internal_command return code = 8000002
   : Sense Key : 0x0 [current]
   : ASC=0x0 ASCQ=0x0
sd 4:0:0:0: ioctl_internal_command return code = 8000002
   : Sense Key : 0x0 [current]
   : ASC=0x0 ASCQ=0x0
sd 4:0:0:0: ioctl_internal_command return code = 8000002
   : Sense Key : 0x0 [current]
   : ASC=0x0 ASCQ=0x0
sd 4:0:0:0: ioctl_internal_command return code = 8000002
   : Sense Key : 0x0 [current]
   : ASC=0x0 ASCQ=0x0
Despite of it I can mount, read, and write that device.

Maybe your case is similar. Try to mount /dev/sdb1 device.

Mine never makes an sbd# device to mount. fdisk -l only sees sda the internal SATA drive in the laptop.

I went and bought a new usb case and put the drive in it and it works fine. Strange thing is the old usb case works fine in the older laptops, must be some sort of compatibility/interpretation of the usb standard.
