After running for a few hours i am not able to open any new apps if i open the console then wait for the problem to occur i get
At the moment i only have Firefox and the console open plus the kde tray apps (kmix Klipper etc).
Sounds like one of the programs you are running is buggy and creates lots of client connections.
You can check with one of these commands which X clients are connected:
k, opened akonadiconsole, added mail dispatcher agent, restarted akonadi, still not working... did i miss a step?
Try to remove any smtp account, enable kwallet and create smtp accounts again.
Somewhere on the internet I read that sometimes restarting aconadi helps (aconadictl restart), but in my case I didn't have to.
Overall the new Kmail feels like a downgrade, Kaddressbook still hasn't seen all of the pre-4.4 functionality restored (which was promised), and Knotebook has vanished altogether. The desktop environment is an improvement overall (the activities in particular), but I'm a little miffed about the PIM situation. I love KDE, but I don't understand why they insist on releasing new stuff half-baked. Just sit on the damn thing until it's ready.
I ran the lack of Kjots by the folks at the KDE forum. Got the following response:
Quote:
It is probable your distributor built KDE PIM without Grantlee present. I can assure you that KJots is both present in the source tree, and enabled in the build system of KDE Trunk (4.6).
I'm going to look into this further; figure out what Grantlee is and maybe try to build KDE PIM myself.
Hmmm... libgrantlee. A google search brings up tons of packages (none of which are for Slackware), but I can't seem to locate source code. If anyone knows where to get libgrantlee source code please let me know.
I've still got two issues: kmail insists that I have no unread emails even though I have lots, and external devices are showing up twice in the notifier. I have requests for help on those issues over at the KDE forum and will post the solutions (if any) here. Other than that I'm pretty satisfied; in particular I'm REALLY liking the desktop activities.
