Switch from ps2 to usb mouse

Hi,

I have just installed Slackware on my machine, but like an idiot I chose a ps2 mouse, forgetting that I recently got a USB one instead. How can I change it so my mouse actually works?

I tried booting a live CD and changing stuff from the xorg file (setting it to IM/PS2) and the like but the mouse still doesnt move.

Thanks.

Sounds more like a usb issue than a mouse issue. I have both and it makes no difference in X, it is the same setting for both. I have only one mouse in my xorg file and both mice work. Try lsusb to see if your mouse is there.

Do you only have one output from lsusb or many? I ask because I remember a problem I had with usb which turn out to be the wrong usb driver (OHCI, EHCI..). If you only have one or two you have the wrong driver.
