Had USB mouse, now have PS2, but doesn't work

I am using Slackware 10.1 and dropline gnome. I have been using a USB mouse since I installed Slackware with no problems, but recently my mouse broke. I bought a new mouse to replace it, but the new mouse uses PST and so isn't recognised when I start X.

Can anybody explain how I can fix this?

Thanks.

Change your Xorg config to point to /dev/psaux as the mouse device - /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Or point it at /dev/mouse and make a link from /dev/mouse to /dev/psaux

you could use xorgconf

You could use xorgconf, but you'd have to answer questions about your monitor and stuff as well as the mouse type. Worth a thought tho.
