streaming video in Konq

Hey guys,

Any happen to get streaming video (specifically, i'm attempting with apple trailers, (.mov)) using mplayer, and the mplayerplug-in. It's for firefox, yes, but supposedly will work quite well in konq. (if not better, from what I've read).

So, I compiled the plugin, made a slackware package, and installed. Then, I had konq scan the folder for the plugin, and it seemed to locate it just fine. However, when I attempt to view a trailer, nothing appears (not even the plugin icon that is supposed to before beginning a stream.

Just curious if anyone else had luck with this.

Thanks for the help~

Do you have the application association set up for the plugin? Sometimes you can miss them.

GOto Configure Konqueror, and select File Associations. Type in mov in the find line at the top and the select video->quicktime.

By default videos are set to be viewed in a seprate viewer, but you can change that in the embedded tab, and make sure to add your plugin, and move it to the top of the list.

Well, that's the thing- everything IS setup to read mov through mplayer. When I load the page in firefox, it comes up with a blank space, and loads the streaming video (by blank space, I mean no visual buttons of a media player).

However, when attempting in konq, it displays three buttons (play, stop, and something that I can't recall at the time- at work sorry=] )

But, it DOES work in firefox, so I figured the issue must be with konq. Just wondering if it's been accomplished before / if i'm wasting my time.

Thanks for the reply!

Try using kplayer ( its a KDE frontend for mplayer ) The has all the hooks for KDE, and will play embedded video.

Tried it on the apple quicktime, movie trailers just to be sure. Worked like a treat.

Plus I think its easier to use the the mplayer frontend you usually get.

Hm...interesting; so, I should compile this after mplayer, point it to konq to play .movs, and streaming should be set?

Thanks,

Andrew

Yes after mplayer, It should set up in Konq when it installs, you may just have to move it up the embedded list.

The KPlayer site has the details, as well as slackware packages. ( as well as packages for most distro's ).
