Talking Slackware to merge with Ubuntu?

Just seen the shocking news on Slashdot that Pat has been hired by Canonical.

Now what's going to happen with the mirrors? How will I 'apt-get update all' on 'current'? Will I have to replace bash with Unity? Do I have to change my locale to Afrikaans?

Any help appreciated.

That sounds good.
Maybe we'll get officially supported automatic dependency resolution and fixed release cycle, too, finally!

Well, I'm shocked and disappointed that it was an April Fool's joke. I was looking forward to Mr Shuttleworth showing Mr Volkerding how to put a proper distro together.

P.S.
I'm so traumatized I might go and buy Windows 8.

That was better than Slashdot's actual April Fools headline:

Linus Torvalds To Head Windows 9 Project

Also, while an obvious portmanteau name would be Slackbuntu, I would expect the name to be derived from a new philosphy that combines the Ubuntu philosophy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ubuntu_(philosophy)) with, uh, whatever philosophy Slackware is named after.

Ye Gods, man! Don't do anything rash. I suggest that you first sip a nice cold malt beverage and embrace your inner slack.

On any other day that one would've had me going for a few paragraphs. He really had to crank up the hyperbole in the last three paragraphs to ensure that people would check the date.
