convert and merge a fat32 to ext3 and then merge w/ another ext3?

i have a fat32 partition (34.4gb in total) and a 14.2gb ext3 partition. is there any way to make them into one big ext3 partition without backing up everything, and making a new partition?

edit: i see now that there is enough free space on the fat32 part to move everything on the ext3 part over. i will lose permisions, but that is not a big deal on mp3s

if i get all my data onto just the fat32 partition, then i can delete the ext3 partition. does that make it any easier? then i could just expand and convert the fat partition and convert it if that is possible.

good idea? bad idea?

You can not convert a FAT32 partition to ext3 without wiping out your existing data.
