Slackware 14.0 Firefox printer duplex no longer using printer system default

Greetings,
I am using Slackware 14.0 and Firefox 17.0.11esr. I just installed the Slackware security updates up to May 12.2014. Before I updated, Firefox used the printer Duplex system default of "On". Now, Firefox always comes up with the duplex "Off" and I have to keep changing it for each print job or waste a lot of paper. CUPS reports the printer defaults with Duplex ON and the KDE4 printer settings report Duplex as ON, however, Firefox keeps using Duplex OFF since the update.

I have several CUPS drivers (logical printers) talking to the same physical HP Laserjet 8150DN printer and if I select one of these other drivers, such as Gutenprint rather than the default hp PCL3,then Firefox reports Duplex ON as default. The system default Duplex settings are the same for each logical printer.

Note that I have always had a similar problem with KDE4's Okular. It always defaults Duplex to OFF and I have to keep remembering to change it to ON.

Is this default setting for Firefox and Okular dependent on something other than CUPS and KDE4 printing?
If so, where can I go to make the change?

Note that I checked, and there is no ~/.lpoptions file.

I also checked Firefox's "about:config" and the "..plex_name" items are all set to "default", which I assume means to use the system default settings, which are ON in this printer's case. I must be missing something...

Thanks in advance.

Update to this thread:
After I posted my question to start this thread, I tried selecting Duplex in Kate's printer properties -> Advanced as a test (yes, it was Off - which is not the system default) and after I did so, Kate, Korganizer, Thunderbird, and Firefox now default to Duplex ON! So, there is something else involved in KDE4 that presents the Duplex options to the application that appears to be hidden to me. It probably has something to do with whatever KDE3's Kprint morphed into in KDE4. However, it isn't very nice to change other app's' print options. I have yet to shut down and reboot to see if this change is "sticky".

I also noted that even though Okular's printer properties -> Advanced state Duplex is ON, the Okular Options -> Options menu still has the Duplex "None" radio button selected as default. It has never been "sticky". Another frustration.

Thanks.
