Slack 10 Installation Problems
After briefly trying a couple of other distros out, I decided it was time to try out Slackware as I hear many good things about it. I already have a fresh install of XP occupying my 20 GB drive, and I dedicate half of my 80 GB drive to Linux and let the remaining 40 GB be a FAT32 share.
I found the installer to be pretty straightforward and helpful. I made a 1.5 GB swap partition, a 5 GB / partition and put the remaining space in /home. I also had the installer recognize my FAT32 partitions and picked the option to have Slackware recognize them as well.
The only part that really confused me was the LILO installer. I was given 3 options as to where to install it (1. on Linux partion, 2. Floppy boot, 3. MBR) and I picked the first option as suggested by the installer. The installation finished and I went ahead and rebooted to see if I could get into LILO. Unfortunately, it turned out that I wasn't, and Win XP booted up right away. I loaded up the bootdisk that I made to boot into Slack and it seemed to work OK, but as I was looking through the folders I could barely find any files at all. The folders where I chose to mount my FAT32 partitions to where empty and I was unable to mount the cdrom as well. I'm not really sure what to expect from a bootdisk load though.
So... what gives? What should I do next?
Help greatly appreciated!
