slack installation


i'm reading up about the installation of slackware and it say the install is in text mode?

is there an option to install using a GUI?

I am not aware of there being more than one install mode. I have installed on numerous machines, some compatible some not, and always got the same install in text mode.

i see

i've never installed linux without an GUI front end before?

argh!! i'm getting scared already

is it hard

Its not too hard, you just need to pay closer attention.
Tip: run cfdisk first and define your partitions. The easiest way is to create your swap partition first and use the rest of the drive for installation. Its not the prefered method but it is the easiest.
After you have done the partitions, type 'setup' at the prompt and go through each option top to bottom.
Pay close attention especially at the formating of partitions and the mouse configuration.
If you have lots of disk space just select newbie install and and install all packages.

If you wanna be technical the slackware install is a very simple gui. It's a bash menu interface that is really easy to navigate. You could do the same with any GUI system as well, navigate with the keyboard that is.

After that the ncurses menus will take you esasily to the finish
