Shutdown problem in slackware 12

I have done a full install of slackware 12 in my Intel D915GAV based system. it worked fine for few days and now i'm facing problems in shutting down my pc. when i try to shut down the system stops at "Unmounting Remote Filesystems" there is no response after that, if i try to press ctr+alt+del again it comes to struck at the same point. i tried inserting the --force option in rc.6 file but it solved the problem temporarily but facing the same problem again. is there any way to solve this problem

Do you actually have any remote filesystems mounted?

If you are not using samba or nfs why don't you just disable those services? The easiest way to do this would be to simply remove the execute perms from the run scripts.

As root simply
Code:
chmod a-x /etc/rc.d/rc.nfsd /etc/rc.d/rc.samba
It is generally a good idea to disable any services you don't use because they add to your machine's footprint and thus could potentially pose a security risk.
