There's no bigger useless file to "skip/delete" over /tmp/.../wxWidgets
I don't think i'm commiting to installing the tgz, doesn't make sense to me that big of a library for a sftp client.
Doesn't look like i can skip wxGTK3 right? Konqueror seems to be an alternative, any ideas for a sftp client with a gui interface?
I'm away at present so can't check, but often I've found building direct from source from the upstream site, often picks different defaults and doesnt have so many deps, this may or may not be the case, and vpn is dog slow at present so I CBF trying myself.
Although I've always found filezilla best, you can get gftp to work with sftp, make sure teh sftp-server subsystem in sshd_config is active, start gftp, there is an ssh tab in options, make sure or populate it with the path to your sftp-server,and 22 for the port, and use ssh not ftp in selector - its been a bit but I'm sure thats all you need to do - no doubt someone else will chime in if I've missed a step or 3
I don't know what exactly you are looking to do. However gvfs in Slackware already supports SFTP. Gerard mentioned Krusader, I am an XFCE guy myself so I am not really familair with it. However if you are just looking for a GUI tool to move files between your host and SFTP server, Thunar will cover you.
Just plunk ssh://host.example.com/path/you/want/ into the address bar. It will prompt your for credentials if you have not got ssh keys setup.

And if you really want filezilla (which is a nice tool), there are readymade packages of filezilla, libfilezilla and wxGTK3 in Ponce's slackware repo: https://ponce.cc/slackware/slackware-15.0/packages/
Installed size of all three will be 55 MB or thereabout.

I have filezilla-3.58.0 running (and built with modified SBo slackbuild).
It uses wxWidgets-3.0.5 compiled by myself with the option "--disable-shared" (so I have only the static libraries). wxWidgets-3.0.5 uses only 71 Mb (not compressed).
On the main window select SSH2 and just type the ssh_config alias as host or type the ip and over the Pass field use the key pass and not the user pass.
FileZilla
I'll be using filezilla because my remote server sshd setup uses this config:
AuthenticationMethods "publickey,password"
Both key pass and user pass, i could not replicate this config on Gftp and Krusader. Over Filezilla you configure the Sftp connection for password login and on the global preferences of filezilla you set the key file, then it works.
Thunar
Thunar works also works with AuthenticationMethods "publickey, password"
sftp://<aliasname>
No configuration needed, it just asks for both passwords, first key pass then username & pass and then it requests key pass again and finally user pass to finally populate the directory.
