Hi all,

I installed Adobe reader from Adobe's site, as the Adobe readers that come with slack don't support the digital signing correctly and I need to use that.

So I put in Adobe reader, launch it and get a plug-in load error. It's actually in the readme of the reader and I missed it, but none the less I decided to go out and get the OpenLDAP that it want's only to find that I have to compile it from source, but that requires the install of the Berkely DB.

So I put in the latest Berkely from source, went in without hitch. But when I did configure on Openldap it said 'version mismatch' so I did the 'make uninstall' of berkley and got an older version of it..version 4.2.52 and put that in. Again no errors. I do configure on openldap and get a little further but it gives me this:

Do I need to go back even further? Openldap's site really doesnt state that I can find what version it wants...or maybe I have the right version and I have to do something special for the BerkelyDB backend.

Oh I know there is an openldap on linuxpackages...but the md5sum's are not good or the file is corrupted..I did report it to linuxpackages so they know.

Old_Fogie, do you require that plug-in for your needs or not? If not, you can simply disable it (chmod -x), that's what I did.

I'm not really sure if I will need it or not. According to Adobe's web-site, that plug-in has a lot to do with digital signatures in the files themselves and they leave me to believe that without it's functionality could be big problems.

Now I do receive digitally signed files. I've opened some previous files sent to me and so far, even tho I get the plug-in error on open Adobe, I can still run the adobe and view the files. I'd just like to get it right you know.

I suspect that you can still read signed files but cannot verify them. More of a problem is filling in a form and submitting it with your own signature. The income tax form here has to be filled in on Acrobat Reader 7.05 on XP/2000 with a government issued personal digital signature

Update: I've uploaded an openldap-client package for Slackware 10.2, which should be sufficient to solve your acrobat reader problem (and also started gpg signing my packages, thanks to Old_Fogie's discussion about trust in another topic :-)

I use the reader package and just ignore the popup.

The gpg key worked like a charm. The package worked like a charm. Fresh install of Adobe worked like a charm. No error's.
