[SOLVED] Setting up Java in 14.1, its already installed but system won't recognize it.

I followed the usual instruction to install it using java.slackbuild and verified it online here and everything is fine here. I get the message :

"You have the recommended Java installed (Version 8 Update 25)."

But on command line I get the simple error message i.e. java : command not found.

I tried adjusting System Env Variables and Path but got no result.

I appended following lines :

Quote:

export JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/jdk1.8.0_[xy]
export PATH="$JAVA_HOME/bin:$PATH"

and then updated these settings with :

"source /etc/profile"

But my system still won't recognize Java.

Try export PATH="${PATH}:${JAVA_HOME}/bin:${JAVA_HOME}/jre/bin"

Edit :

Figured it out, I was just being stupid. It was supposed to be /usr/lib/java (and not jvm).
