sep-26 current upgrade (boost) broke alien's libreoffice

As a quick fix in /usr/lib64/ do:

Code:
ln -s libboost_iostreams.so libboost_iostreams.so.1.63.0
ln -s libboost_filesystem.so libboost_filesystem.so.1.63.0
ln -s libboost_system.so libboost_system.so.1.63.0
All seems to work here... (but I didn't test too much)

Have a nice day
Franz

That fix is terrible and what a debian user would do. The correct fix is to recompile liberoffice. A more long term solution would be to not compile libreoffice with the dependencies built into it in which case all you would need to rebuild was libixion, liborcus and libcmis.

This is nice, and well known. But I, and others with me want to (or have to) do work using the unloved office solution. And then you don't want to embark on a compiling odyssee, but need a quick fix. To speed up those people's process I put in that post.

Thank you
Franz

Its still very much worth pointing out that its a terrible practice and a good way to introduce bugs.

I'm sorry to say, but then you're not the intended target audience of -current and should run stable instead. There your office suite will run just fine and won't require any recompiles.

Just to conclude.
Upgrade libreoffice with new packages and remove the links...

For all the know-betters. I've been doing my stuff like that for the past 20 or more years, and yes, I mange well most of the time.

Thank you for your helpful remarks
Franz

So you are saying we shouldn't help you with unexplained issues in the future? Right...
