[Alien's LO 5.2.5] Strange bug/annoyance in Alien's LibreOffice 5.2.5

Using Slackware64-current and Alien's Plasma 5

I'm experiencing a strange bug in Alien's LibreOffice 5.2.5. I'm saying "bug", but in practice it's just an annoyance since there is an easy workaround. I'm posting this just to report it and see if others are experiencing the same.

I saw this in LibreOffice Writer.

When I try to insert a bitmap image by using the usual Insert > Image... menu command, after selecting the graphic file in the file dialog, LibreOffice puts just a 1px image. All drag points are superposed in just one dragging (blue) square.

After enlarging the image using the drag points, the resulting image is blank/white.

i have seen this behavior with JPG and PNG images. The behavior is normal when the image is vectorial; i.e., a SVG logo for example. No issues with that.

Directly open the bitmap image with libreoffice. At the command line, type:

$ loffice ./mypic.jpg
The image file will open in LibreOffice Draw. Select it, copy it, and paste into Writer. The image then will appear normally.

As I said, given that the workaround is readily available, this is more an annoyance than a bug.

Any other Slackers seeing this issue? Thanks in advance.

I can not reproduce this issue on my slackware64-current computer with libreoffice-5.2.5 installed. In a new document I created with "lowriter" I entered some lines of text and then in the midst of that text, selected Insert -> Image... and picked a random image (an older screenshof the LibreOffice "about" window which I used for my blog article) and that image just appeared as expected, in the midst of my text with handles along the sides which enabled me to resize the image at will.

The same (i.e. no issue at all) could be observed when inserting a different image, in an otherwise empty document.
