saving alsa settings for all users
Everytime I log in I have to su to root than use alsaconf to reconfigure my sound card, I tried using alsactl store to save the settings but it doesnt work for my user accounts, how can I save my sound settings for all users? (I'm assuming its only saving those settings for root)
Thanks

If you use a 2.6 kernel, are /etc/rc.d/rc.udev and /etc/rc.d/rc.hotplug executable ?
Also, did you try to set the settings with alsamixer, then su to root and do
alsactl store ?
alsactl store is meant to save the mixer settings in /etc/asound.state, not
the audio card config

My kernel version is 2.4.25 and they both executable. Yeah, I've changed the alsamixer settings with the user account I want to save it for, the mixer settings aren't the problem, when I go into them I have volume for the user, but I dont get any sound until I log in as root and run alsaconf.

I added
in my /etc/rc.d/rc.0 quite after the line
#Set the path.
PATH=/sbin......
the line
/usr/sbin/alsactl store
With this line the changed mixersettings are saved before the system will shut down or reboot.
It works fine for me.
Fluxx.
