Question ALSA not saving user mixer settings

Why is it that I can save my mixer settings in ALSA under the root id but not the user id? I have tried alsactl store but upon reboot, the mixer settings are back to zero.

from your regular user you should be be able to run alsactl restore 0 (or whatever number your sound card is) and it should restore the settings. I haven't figured out how to make it permanent yet.

Just add alsactl restore to your rc.local file.
