quick kernel compile question

i just have a quick question about compiling the kernel. when i run the config, for the kernel, will it keep what already compiled in. or will i have to reselect everything? i just need to add a few things, but dont want to lose the thing i have currently working good.

thanks much,

The current config will be kept as it is in .config and it will be loaded.
when u make changes, the .config will be updated.

So no need to reselect everything!
