Quick Kernel Compile Question

I've compiled 2.6.8.1 and its running great except for a few modules that refuse to load. I'm not exactly sure what the problem is. So I was thinking of trying to recompile again.

If I recompile again can I keep all my current settings and just try and update a few that are not working?

Can I just run gconfig make the appropriate changes then

make
su -c "make modules_install"
make install

Or do I have to start all over again?

I really don't want to break anything cause apart from the modules that don't load the system is running perfectly.

Any tips on simply making changes to my current config and updating much appreciated.

Ta

hi huntz,
yeah, gconfig will pick up the settings you made last time you configured from the .config file in the top of your src directory. If in doubt, you can always go to File > Load and type '.config'.

Also note, that if you ever want to recompile a new version with the same config, you can just do 'make oldconfig' and it will only prompt you for any new options.

Yes, you can do that. You don't really need to start everything over again
