poor font rendering in gvim with dark colorscheme

hi everyone,

i'm experiencing poor font rendering in gvim when using a colorscheme with a dark background. some fonts are bad, some are really bad. the only one which works fine is 'fixed'. any font is fine with a light background.

here are a couple of samples:
http://imageshack.us/f/339/1elford.png/
http://imageshack.us/f/853/1elford2.png/

the first one is not too bad but there are letters with many different shades of a color in them (it is annoying if i have to code). the second is pretty bad.

is anyone having similar issues? does anyone know how to fix this?

thank you

I too experienced similar font ugliness as yours, but after applying ClearType patches Daedra has provided, GVim now looks much better.

There's also Dugan Chen's Slackware font page with links to other patches.

Try specifying a font with "xterm -fa". Say:

Code:
xterm -fa Liberation\ Mono

And what does this have to do with GVim?
