Package installation issue

Hi guys, it's me again...
I just downloaded some packages from the Net and tried to use the KDE Package utility to uninstal/install, but when I try to look at the new packages the installer complains because the package is not in tgz format...?

Has anyone else come across this?

Regards

What is the format of these packages? If it's .tar.gz, you first need to uncompress them, then (in a console) type in ./configure then make then use su to become root and then type in make install.

Thanks for the suggestions, sorry about the long delay in responding, but I was away.

I'll report on the results.

sometimes when you download .tgz packages from an internet browser, it renames it to .tgz.tar for some reason... If you're sure its a .tgz package, then just

rename it from .tgz.tar to .tgz
mv package.tgz.tar package.tgz
and install
installpkg package.tgz
