I would like to get a good p2p client, there seems to be many but what are your recommendations? Something good that works flawlessly on Slackware...preferably something that in one package?

You can for Slackware packages for the ones that people recommend on http://www.linuxpackages.net/
It will even tell you the dependencies.
I've found that overnet has a great amount of file for sharing; but the command line interface is poor, while Mutella has a Great command line interface. (... for me)
For the edonkey network, Amule is the best, and IMO its MUCH easier to install it from source (and much, much longer). The installation instructions are perfect and pricessless.
For the Torrent network, i find Azureus very good.
I use MLDonkey on my Slackware-Router. MLDonkey is command-line and can be controlled via Webinterface from whereever you want. It can also handle all the famous networks like Donkey, Overnet, FastTrack, Gnutella, Gnutella2 and FileTP. It can also download BitTorrent files. And it runs rock solid. I can really recommend it.
Apollon comes in a single package that installs the gift daemon, the plugins and the interface. i use it under slackware 10 and so far i have no problems (i had already gift compiled in my system so i only installed the interface and plugins, but that shouldn't be a problem). The installation is completely graphical and it compiles on the fly.
Yaggui is another interface for giftd that is very simple and easy to use and has no dependencies. (Java based)
If you want to use BitTorrent, Azureus is a very good option. And as it is Java based, it does not require dependencies other than Java that comes with Slackware.

Is it just me, or does Azureus take up alot of memory? I guess that's the disadvantage of relying on java.. =/
A while back i foudn this nifty p2p client i didn't use it because I don't have a gui on my linux boxes.
its a multi network client. i sugest you chekc it out... although it isn't slackware specific and i belive you need to compile it... it was well work the work.
