Nforce2 canīt see new sata drive

Hi everyone.

I just got myself a nice new hdd 200GB Segate Barracuda Sata drive. The first thing I did was have a read around here and re-compile the kernel with support for my drive.

I have now configured all the needed scsi support under low level device drivers sata support for my Nvidia Chipset.

Unfortunately it does not seem to be detected in any way

I have had a good look though my dmesg and also had a look in /dev/ for it but canīt find any sign of it.

I know this drive is connected correctly as my raid controller detects it on boot.

Any ideas?

Sorry I should have said that to start with. Its a Abit NF7-s nforce 2 chipset.

The sata controller is a Silicon Image 3112a SATA RAID controller.

Did you enable Silicon Image chipset support in config, located at
Device Drivers::ATA/ATAPI/MFM/RLL support::Silicon Image chipset support

Thanks for your help keefaz. I now have it working. I hadnīt turned on

So I turned it on. Then I had to go back to where I had slected sata support in low level drivers, and turn off nvidia and turn on Silicon Image again (I didnīt notice it before!)

Thanks again
