Ah OK. Great game though. I'm tempted to replay it, I never finished it. I haven't tried Proton yet.

I like Steam games, but now I play mostly on my phone like Fortnite, Asphalt or Slotstars Casino. Last games I played in Steam were Dota2 and Tactical monsters, cool games I think. I also want to play CS, but it costs money(

Proton with Steam is not always working for me, like Witcher 3, is not even launching.

I found Lutris and Wine-staging with DXVK to work good, I can launch Witcher 3 without any problems and works smoothly.

I guess I need to compile Proton in order to get it to work for my system, but compiling Proton seems too complicated.

Bindestreck, what errors are you getting? Are you on current, or 14.2? Do you have updated video card drivers?

I am on current. The game is not launching, it says "Running..." in Steam but the game is just not appearing.

I use Nvidia drivers: 396.54.09

Gonna check the errors later, but last time I saw I could not find anything interesting.

Do you have python 2 installed? I think it requires both. I"m on 14.2, but I had to install python 3.

Yes, I have both python 2 and python 3.

I think it happened right after an xorg-server upgrade, right now I have 1.20.3.

Metro 2033 which is free today on Steam is working great. I'm glad I don't have to bother with Wine anymore to play games on Steam.
Well darn, I look that game up, looks interesting, said free for 24 hours though, tried to download it, it was added to my library in Steam but will not install, says (invalid platform). Yes I am participating in the Steam Beta Update. Oh well.

The load screen initially is green and I have to esc out of it but it works great for me! I'm using Current though.

In Steam->Settings->Steam Play I have "Enable Steam Play for all Titles" and "Use this tool instead of game-specific selections from Steam" checked. I am using "Compatibility tool:" "Proton 3.16-3 Beta."

On the game's page in your library it should say "INSTALL" and right beside it to the right it should say "Runs on this computer via Steam Play"

Hmm, thought I had set that already, went there and nothing checked. Fixed that. Thanks.

Since it wouldn't let me install it, I removed it. Now trying to search for it, it does not show up in the store. <shrug>

Oh I'm on Slackware64-current too. (Just fixed my Distribution to reflect that.)

Yeah it was removed! It should be in your library still (unless there is a way to remove purchased games). If not you may want to contact Steam support!

The is a way. I removed it from my library. Guess I should have waited. Oh well. Guess the 24 hours as expired. No going to shell out cash to buy it. There will be others... <grin>

I didn't know that.

There will be others! I have got a ton of free games from Steam, Humblebundle, and GoG giveaways by watching steamgifts.com->Discussion->Deals. I check it every few days to see whats up so make sure to check it out. About once a month Humblebundle gives out a game. A lot of them from Humblebundle are for Linux too which is nice. Occasionally they'll give away a couple smaller titles if you login each day during a giveaway. itch.io also has a lot of indie linux games given out for free there is a thread on there keeping up with the giveaways for it. I have a lot of games to play through because of this

How to remove a game from Steam.

In your Library, with View > Games Details set. In the Link Box on the right select the Support link. On that page will be "I want to permanently remove this game from my account" as a selection. Click on that, on the page you will given two choices. Not going to write the two options out, basically it Yes or ask for refund, be sure to read the information displayed on the page.

You can also Hide games.

Out of interest, why did you choose 3.16-3 Beta and not 3.7? I am trying out Downwell now, but it's minimised, you can't select any of the menus and it keeps crashing. So much for that.

However, I have just tried out the relatively unknown but awesome game Space Beast Terror Fright, which plays excellently. I'm impressed.

This needs some work, but it's promising. Clearly some titles are going to work better than others.
