Look at the logo upside down, and you'll see why Pat calls it the 'flippy' logo.
Here is a LILO boot splash with the new logo in case you want to replace the once that is installed by Slackware 12.1: http://www.slackware.com/~alien/slacknew.bmp
Copy it over /boot/slack.bmp and then re-run "lilo".
Great !!!!
as far as i feel i think it is not upside down,
it is flippy. you can read it both ways, it looks same.
script looks like hindi (indian)

Also, we recently commissioned Mark from Senile Felines Designs to create a unique new Slackware Logo (that's it there in the upper right), as we were getting a number of bug reports that the old logo could not be read easily while standing on one's head. ;-)
at least this shows that something is going on in slackware factory.
thank you for the news, alien for the lilo screen
I dunno... The old "typewritten" heading *could* use some additional styling, e.g., on S and W (or on S and E), but this? For all its craftiness, seems silly.
Of all the new logos I've seen lately (KLJ logo on www.klj.be for example, hate it), this is the best one.
Maybe a bit hard to read when you don't know it's the slackware logo, but it has an additional function (the flippy thing)
My first knee-jerk reaction was 'Urgh!'... but I try to be more objective about these things so I've sat here looking at it a little longer and after full consideration I'm with BrianL on this one. It's a mistake.
It's a very clever bit of graphical engineering, but I'm not sure its good graphical design. It forgets one of the main rules about logos. They should represent and promote the product/company's image. Slackware is all about being a no-nonsense, 'clean and simple' product. This new logo doesn't represent those philosophies at all. On top of that, it's very hard to read if you don't know what it says. "Slamwars" what's that then? I don't think this logo makes a good first impression.
P.S. I've always liked the Slackware 'S' on the blue circle myself.
