I realize this thread is about current but it may be worth knowing that I built 4.14.12 on 14.2 Multilib and then installed the nVidia beta 390 driver from nvidia's installer without a hitch.... all runs fine. So I'd wager it's unlikely there are any serious issues on Current.

I think that would be a safe bet. On my own -current multilib system I am running the latest kernel available as of January 15th:
Code:
andrew@illium~$ uname -rm
4.14.13 x86_64
which I always upgrade cautiously as I use the NVidia binary driver. The following NVidia driver release version runs beautifully on my system with this kernel:

This update fixes a high severity security issue:
Improper sequencing during cleanup can lead to a use-after-free error,
triggering an assertion failure and crash in named.

This update fixes two security issues:
Fixed a buffer overrun in the protocol's handling of xattr names and
ensure that the received name is null terminated.
Fix an issue with --protect-args where the user could specify the arg in
the protected-arg list and short-circuit some of the arg-sanitizing code.

UPDATE - nVidia released 390.25 as a full release follow up to the 390.12 Beta and it failed to build on my 4.14.12 kernel. I'm here to say replacing that kernel with 4.15.0 fixes that or at least it did for me. The full release driver installed without a single hiccup and both work great.
