Need Help with USB TV Tuner

Hi All,

Im using slackware64-13.37. Just bought a Leadtek WinFast DTV Dongle Gold and want to watch TV from slackware. I plug device in, install tvtime from slackbuilds. But It says it can not find device /dev/video0. I have checked lsusb, slackware can see and use af9015 module

Any helps??

Thanks

I had a similar problem. I used a different front-end to fix the problem. Kaffeine media player built using slackbuilds and sbopkg.

Hi,

Did you check that the user under which you launch tvtime be a member of the 'video' group ?

And you could give vlc a try.

Alien Bob aka Eric Hameleers provide slackbuilds and precompiled packages for it which come handy, see http://connie.slackware.com/~alien/slackbuilds/, or http://taper.alienbase.nl/mirrors/pe...ackbuilds/vlc/ if you want to be able to encode mp3 and aac audio (forbidden in the USA)

Something I ran into is the "some" tv tuners, usb & pci won't pick up satellite signals from the box but will pick up cable.
You might verify that your tuner is compatible with the signal your trying to pick up.

Hi Guys,

What I missed is firmware. I had to download http://www.otit.fi/~crope/v4l-dvb/af...-usb-af9015.fw, and copy to /lib/firmware. Everything is fine. I am using Kaffeine to watch TV.

Thanks everyone
