I'm looking into getting a TV Tuner for my laptop, preferably something with a hardware encoder. I wanted to know if anyone has had any good experiences in linux with any particular product. My goal is to use it as a PVR using MythTV. I've searched around and can't say I've found anything that screams "great linux support!"
Oh and come to think of it, if anyone could reccommend a good remote too that'd be just great! I've had no luck getting my firefly to work, so any IR solutions would be welcome!
Hauppauge WinTV USB WITH RADIO!
This one works fine with the usbvision kernel module (not in the vanilla kernel, used to be here http://www.emuit.com/webcam.html, but the domain seems dead...).
I had one with my laptop but it worked like a charm.

Yeah I was looking at those on eBay. Have you had any experience using it as a PVR though? I know it doesn't have a hardware encoder, so the computer ends up doing the work, are their any performance concerns? (I'm on a laptop w/ a 1.5GHz centrino and 512 megs of ram) Also, was is easy to configure the included remote control?

I'm also on a 1.5 GHz/512MB Laptop. No performance concerns. I've been working as usual while using it.
RC? There was no RC in my package. I'VE BEEN CHEATED!
So I just bought the WinTV USB2 on eBay.. I know I'm getting ahead of myself, but do you think you could give me a rundown of what you did to set it up? From what I've read it has something to do with v4l
