Is it possible to get a USB TV Tuner working?

I have a Compro VideoMate Action Pro USB TV Tuner box I would like to get working on my laptop (Amilo Pro v2010).
I have tried moduling all the tuners in the kernel (in Multimedia Devices -> Video4Linux and USB) but I still get no result.
When I plug it in and type dmesg, it says a new highspeed device has been connected, but no modules are loaded.
On my other machine with a PCI tuner card, I have things like tuner, v4l2_common, v4l2_compat loaded, but none of those appear on the laptop.
Is it actually possible to get it working? Maybe with ndiswrapper or something?
Any thoughts / help appreciated.

There's also the Plextor ConvertX PVR 402U devices, which are supported by the Plextor driver and MythTV.
