That's the platform fault. It was fun when the original rss author was alive, but then it slowly devolved into another media outlet.
Wouldn't recommend it for anything, other than keeping up with the latest news. That is all I have to say about it.
Although I concur that reddit has too much of a commercial media outlet vibe, what with its reddit coins and reddit gifts and that kind of crud that completely detracts from any valuable content; I will confess that I found helpful assistance on my quest to master common lisp by writing a tool to help maintain slackware.
Another thing certainly terrible abou it, is that I can search for all kinds of words that I used in that blog, and the blog will not be found by its search engine, unless the words were used in the title; so I deduce that its search engine indexes titles only and skips indexing the content of its blogs: that's not just ludicrous; that's downright ineptitude.

Yeah I didn't say there's no useful info there, just that I only liked the rss part of the site.
The "bury" feature they copied from digg, that's my main problem with the site and my reason to avoid it.

Probably still lurking here somewhere, out of habit.
If I was offended (not easy to do - thick-skinned), I'd be inclined to reply in kind. Most likely get us both banned. Reporting someone would seem like a throwback to the days when I was a soft little kid, every bully's favourite target, running home to tell his mummy.
That's it!
I'm gonna tell you to my mummy!

Certainly You meant troll feast?

I saw enough nonsense from igadoter over the last little while that I think the ban was completely justified. And no, I didn't report his posts.
I concur: the lad seemed more stressed than usual as of late

Reason: i have my mummy!
What's the next topic for discussion?
BTW, I never told my parents or anyone about the bullying. I settled for fantasising about gruesome revenge on the perpetrators.

Ahh... had to look it up: both digg, and the bury feature (I don't get out much)--and I concur on that as well: it oppresses freedom of speech and should be resisted. Thanks for pointing it out.

It does no such thing. Freedom of speech means that you can say what you like... It doesn't mean that people are required to listen.

Exactly. Also with freedom comes responsibility. That is, we're free to say what we want, but, we're also responsible for what we say. Specifically, if we say something insulting or hurtful we must live with the consequences of our actions. Enough said about this.
I'm excited about the release of 15.
As of recent i'm a on and off loosely following an Linux gaming discord server:
Some of the more vocal people there (most of whom are distro hopping around Debian and Arch (big surprise, right?)) are enjoying a so called "speedrun" install:
People get an system up and running in about an hour (record at 45 mins) and that's for Arch for instance.
What gets me is two things:
1. They manage to get their "ricing" right in that time.
2. I am over and done with my install and "ricing" of Slackware usually in about two weeks - if all goes normal?!
P.S.
"ricing" - making an install look custom fit to your own taste and feel.

Sorry cannot resist a comment. Agree 100%. There is one problem. These days there are folks who take anything said (or unsaid) as insulting or hurtful, including stating anything they disagree with. The old saying "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me." sadly no longer applies today.
I really do wish the mods would shut this thread down.

It means the ad company is in a position to hire voters, in order to shift public opinion on their products?
How else did you think it worked? The bury feature, that is. I always thought it's obviously sweeping bad reviews under the carpet.

I've never timed it, but I would guesstimate I can to it in 45 minutes to an hour with Slackware64-current.
All the addition "third party" packages and tweaks are kept (and kept up-to-date) in my backup, so it is just a matter of installing them or copying them over after the initial install.
