Mouse focus changes after user logs out.

I am having a strange problem whereby the focus of the mouse sometimes will change when a user logs out and then logs back on the my slack installation.

Upon someone else logging in, without powering down, the focus of the mouse will be several pixels above normal rendering it very difficult, if not impossible, for the user to work graphically. As a result of this, the user will have to estimate where the focus should be as the pointer will be about 3/4's of an inch below where the focus actually is.

When someone logs in after initially powering up the machine, there is no problem. However, if someone logs out and then logs back in without powering down it often appears.

For what it is worth, I am using x.org and have an ATI Radeon video card.

Any thoughts/help would be appreciated.

This may sound silly but does it happen if you don't move the mouse after you log out and just use the keyboard to log back in, then wait for everything to load before using the mouse again?
I'm wondering if it is the graphics driver causing problems during resolution changes.

I truly don't know, but it is worth a shot as I am grasping to figure out what is wrong.

As I have a two-month old in my lap, I probably won't try tonight but will give it a shot tomorrow.

Thanks for the suggestion!!

I just gave it a shot and the focus is where it should be - as this has been intermittent I can't say if this is the problem, but will continue to try and see if this resolves the problem.

It's not a fix but, if it works, do it!
