What is your mouse? Have you done and X configuration?
You might try XFree86config ( I am not home on my slack box now, the name might be something slightly diferent) and specify your mouse. Or a generic one.

I ran XFree86config, then X- doesn't work, reinstall, same problems(no keyboard & mouse) keyboard and mouse are Micro Innovations, wireless office set, both wireless using a combo ps/2-ps/2 mouse/keyboard interface. Also ran xf86setup.

Oh, they are wireless stuff. I have an IBM mouse, it runs out of the box on Yoper, but for Slack/Debian I had to search google/linux to find howto`s that helped me. Try the same with your mouse specs.

Did you try XFree86 -configure?

It's quite good at guessing the setup
lately :}

Cheers,

Configure you keyboard and mouse as regular ps/2 devices and all should be well.

Does your mouse and keyboard work under mandrake?.. If they do just copy your xf86config setup for the mouse, and add them to your slack xf86config. It should work fine if you do that.... I do not use mandrake but my xf86config is located at /etc/X11/xf86config.. In both Slack and Redhat... Before you change anything make sure you do a backup of your already created xf86config file. Good luck.

that might help but then again slack seems to handle input devices differently, for instance usally distros use /dev/mouse for my usb ms explorer, but slack uses /dev/input/mouse0 that gave me some issues when i first installed slack. Never had a keyboard not work so can't help you out there, but it might be worth trying out /dev/input/mouse0 or psaux or ps2.

Can you post your mouse and keyboard sections of your /etc/X11/XF86Config file? Maybe someone will have some ideas based on what's in that file.

As Aussie said, if you configure them as regular PS/2, it should work, but perhaps there's some options in there or something that's hosing things up. If we could see your file, it might help us in determining the problem.
