Confirmed on my machine after upgrading to mate-power-manager-1.26.0-x86_64-2 (Aug 13).
It might well be that this goes back to the 1.26 release for me as well, only that I haven't noticed (probably not kept the monitor idle long enough, I usually suspend when leaving it for a longer period).
Willy, since you are the msb maintainer, have you found anything upstream that can explain this behaviour?

Another issue with mate-1.26 that I've experienced is that the panel's window list occasionally disappears. I get a dialog box telling me it has quit unexpectedly (indeed!) and allowing me to reload it.
Maybe it would be a good idea reverting to 1.24? I guess it would be fairly easy to build all 1.24 packages with Willy's mate-build-base and -extra buildscripts and the 1.24.1 release from mate-desktop?

I've removed xscreensaver and xfce4-screensaver (why does xfce carry two screensavers?) and deleted the ~/.screensaver file. Right now it seems as if the blank screen issue has disappeared and the mate screensaver kicks in as expected. Will give it some more time and see what happens.
I've seen other threads about the window list issue. In some cases (Archlinux) it was solved by downgrading cairo to 1.17.2, but slackware -current has cairo-1.16 (last updated in February), so that's probably not the way forward. Another suggestion was to disable the thumbnail view when hovering over the window list, or resizing it from default 200p. I resized to 256 and will se if it helps.
