Unhappy Login Gui?

Every time i boot into my new slack box, it has a non gui login screen. How do I change this. I've tried setting it up in the kde config thingy, but it continues to use a non-gui login. Also, it says "Darkstar login" I THOUGHT IT WAS SLACKWARE! Please help. Thanks =

edit your

/etc/inittab .

Change your runlevel to 4

# Default runlevel.
id:4:initdefault:

Don't change it to 0 or 6

Darkstar is the name of your machine.

netconfig - Use this to change your hostname (it's darkstar right now).

Darkstar

The default hostname in Slackware; your computer will be called darkstar if you do not specify some other name.

One of Patrick Volkerding's development machines, named after “Dark Star”, a song by the Grateful Dead.

You have to be a Deadhead to run Slack ;-)

to open a file in console, vi filename
everyone should learn about vi, no comments from the emacs crowd.

Red face

People, I like the GUI. I think it was the best invention ever made. Please don't argue over your differances, as Linux was created for all people to enjoy, nomatter what the personality. GUI or non-GUI, it's all about how YOU want to use it.

Manual pages. If theres a command that you want more info about, type in 'man command_name', and it will tell you what the command is for, and how to use it.
