There are plenty of lightweight Webkit-based browsers too, besides the ones already mentioned (Xombrero and Uzbl)
Surf
Jumanji
Dwb
Vimprobable
Luakit
Some have more features than others, e.g. Surf is probably the most bare-bones, at least in its unpatched form.
The others are modal like vim, and behave like the Vimperator add-on for Firefox.
I have tested already Jumanji, dwb and vimprobable and at least from dwb I can say that at the current state it is anything but lightweight. It is somewhat weird if you have to kill an allegedly lightweight browser because it eats up all your RAM and half of swap on a machine with 2GB RAM and 4GB of swap.
Agreed.
I have come across a similar problem, and from memory it was one particular page that caused me RAM issues at the time, regardless of which of the lightweight Webkit browsers I tried. From memory, I think it was a large media site, like The Atlantic magazine.
I prefer surf, as it has caused me no issues, RAM or otherwise (and I only have 212MB to play with)
There are a few patches available through http://suckless.org and it is similar to dwm to customize by editing the config.h file.
There is a SlackBuild for it too, unlike some of the others.
I would be very interested in seeing a lightweight browser (preferably vim-like, like dwb) based on Mozilla's Gecko engine instead of Webkit, does anybody know if such a browser exists?

Thanks for the link, but Conkeror is aimed at Emacs users, so as far from Vim-like as possible. I will never understand why anyone would use Emacs-like keybindings for anything, but of course others will see it the same for Vim-like bindings.
