Good lightweight web browser

I'm looking for a good web browser, I would like something that doesnt depend on a specific desktop(gnome,KDE). I have tried firefox before, and really like the way it works (tabs,compatability)...but it seems to take up way too much of my resources, and takes forever to load. If you know of any good lightweight browsers that can display most pages, please respond.
