LAMP server problems

I'm trying a fresh LAMP server installation, it's my first try. These are the packages I'm using, downloaded from linuxpackages.net

apache2-2.0.54-i486-1spi.tgz
php-apache2-5.0.4-i486-2spi.tgz
mysql-5.0.16-i486-1.tgz

I also installed t1lib-5.1.0-i486-1kjz.tgz with the php-apache2 package

mysql installed fine and the daemon's up and running along with mysql-administrator.

I installed apache2 then php-apache2

However, when I try to start apache, I get this error

Code:
Syntax error on line 5 of /etc/apache2/mod_php.conf:
Cannot load /usr/lib/apache2/libphp5.so into server: libmysqlclient.so.14: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Is this a problem associated with mysql-5? Should I downgrade to mysql-4.x, or is there a straightforward way to get it working? Maybe I'm missing something easy.

I'm running slackware-current

Cheers!

Any reason why you can't just use the Apache/MySQL/PHP versions that come standard with Slackware?

No reason except that i was following this guide;

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=311344

and wanted to stay pretty close to it.

I downgraded my version of mysql to 4.1.11 and it's working ok now. I'd be interested to know why it didn't work with version 5.0.16 though

Cheers
