In Linux resource usage of 100% is the norm when running multimedia apps. Unlike Window, this isn't resource hogging but actually optimized usage of the CPU.
Don't know if you've tried this before, but under Linux I can burn a CD, listen to MP3s (without skipping), browse LQ and answer a couple of questions without feeling any obvious slowness, and gkrellm will show that I'm using 100% of my resources...
But as long as it doesn't cause any ill effect on my computing experience, I'm OK with it
