Where can I see updates that Pat is still actively working on Slackware 15? I would like to contribute but would also like to see the updates.
He doesn't have a public list of things they're working on behind the scenes. However, we do get occasional posts offering us glimpses behind the curtain. Pay attention to the requests for -current thread and the changelog and provide any fixes you can find for broken issues.
That is 2.8 times what I make, but I still have disposable income though all I can donate is $5
Cost of living is cheaper here in Portugal than in the US.
Is $2879 acceptable in the US?
I really don't know.
It is a bit disappointing though, knowing that only 529 are willing to donate on a regular basis (really thought it would be more), but I understand that not all fans can afford to.

Average $5.49 per head, so I'm ahead of the median at the rate of a hipster coffee per week in UK money.
When Slackware 15.0 hits the streets and there is time to update the Web site to reflect the new arrangements, I'm guessing that the number of subscribers will increase significantly. I steadfastly maintain that Slackware will be of interest to the laptop/fixed wheel bike brigade.

Do remember that this is not net pocketed money (in case someone thought that).
Patreon takes a cut, both on the sum and on each transaction done (I don't remember the numbers, but I remember thinking it not being insignificant - it adds up anyway).
I also believe there are some donations being done via other means (paypal, checks (I think those are still popular in the US), and possible other ways).
Then I bet there is some type of income tax and/or similar that has to be paid from this.
That said - I bet it's much better to receive those monies than not.

As far as I know his household has 3 people. According to the US government's poverty guideline, people are in poverty if they make $20,420 or less. The cost of living varies in different parts of the country. Also Patreon has its own fee and service fees so I'm not sure if what it shows on its webpage is what he takes home or not. Then there is the government's cut with taxes. About $30,000-$35,000 isn't great but you can survive on it depending where you are. https://aspe.hhs.gov/2017-poverty-guidelines#guidelines
