internet card is not working (broadcom bcm4401-b0)

when i type lspci | grep -i ethernet to find out my card it tells me that it is BCM4401-B0 100Base -TX (rev 02)

however when i click on firefox i dont get any internet.
how am i supposed to configure my wireless networks and cards under slackware?

additionally when i plug in my ethernet cable in my computer it wont give me a connection.

how do i install drivers for this network card?

edit: so i tried doing
iwconfig eth1 essid <ssid> key s:<key> to my wireless network and it told me i connected when i run iwconfig.
however when i go to firefox or ping www.google.com it wont work?
any ideas?

could this also be a problem with dns setup since when i try to ping www.google.com it says it dont exist?

I figured out that my wireless card is an Intel pro 2200bg
the broadcom is the Ethernet card to where the cable plugs in

i still can't connect to the internet

Are you using Xfce or KDE? If so, what are you using to make the connection? That is, what software package are you using to manage your connections? Slackware doesn't come "stock" with such a program, but Wicd is available in the /extra directory on the installation CD or from a Internet mirror, e.g., http://ftp.osuosl.org/pub/slackware/

Install wicd and then reboot your computer to load the wicd module (driver). It will do it automatically each time thereafter. There is a command to load the module without having to reboot, but it doesn't come to mind...... OK, it would be, as root,

insmod /pathtomodule/modulename

That way you won't have to reboot your system.
Once you have wicd installed it should make hooking up to Internet as easy as it gets.
