Broadcom BCM4401 driver freezes

Hi,

I installed the bcm4400 driver that was discussed in a prevous thread (http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hlight=BCM4401).
In the beginning it seemed to work well, but when I start downloading something, the network card freezes and keeps displaying "NETDEV WATCHDOG: eth0: transmit timed out". I have to restart networking to get it working again but after a few seconds, it freezes again.

I have an Acer Travelmate 800 running Debian Sid, kernel 2.4.20.

Cheers,

Kozmix

I think I have found the answer. I just found this link .
This patch changes the default timeout value and it seems to be working quite good. I haven't been able to test it thoroughly, but the driver is working fine for hours now.

Regards,

Kozmix

I tested this, and it seems to work where it failed before.

Just to summarize:

After unpacking, and before compiling, change the following line (line 51) in b44um.c:

replace the line
#define TX_TIMEOUT (2*HZ)

with
#define TX_TIMEOUT (5*HZ)

And continue the process from the RELEASE file.
